This winter, join us for a 4 nights and 5 days of mystic journey to the remote North East of India, as we take you deep inside the land of the head hunters… the mysterious Nagaland. This expedition is not for all. This expedition is for the one who has inside him an ardent passion of capturing the colors of tribal rituals, the expressions of joy and the life away from the so called civilization in its raw form. The basic objective is to experience the phenomenon from within than being on a typical tourist visit. Hold your breath !
For a photographer, there are too much to take back. During our stay, we will be teaching various aspects of travel photography including exposure, framing and composition, play of light, night photography, use of flash, HDR, landscapes including a special coaching on travel writing and guidance of development of personal portfolio. There cannot be a better platform to learn about travel photography than this – riot of colors, cultures and costumes ! Festival of the festivals – Hornbill festival !
ABOUT HORNBILL FESTIVAL
Nagaland, a mystical land fabled for its ferocious tribes living amongst narrow strip of mountainous territory with rugged hills, emerald valleys, and sparkling streams has always been touted as the “Land of Festivals”, as each tribe celebrates its own festival with dedication and passion, and the Hornbill Festival is the grandest of all. It is one of the biggest cultural extravaganzas in India and welcomes tourists from around the world to explore the rich culture and traditions of the amazing tribes if NE India and undoubtly is a fest for the eyes - a riot of colours and costumes coupled with a sense of the exotic and mysteries.
For us, it means a closer understanding of our fellow brethrens, their culture , and an opportunity to experience the food, songs, dances and customs of Nagaland and other NE sister states. Hornbill Festival is a great time to experience the cultural diversity of North East India on a go as Cultural troops from all the northeastern states participate during this week-long celebration. It’s a celebration of the past and the present, a cultural extravaganza that not only celebrates the tribal way of life but also bridges the gap between generations and revives and strengthens human bonds. The Hornbill Festival is a magical experience in itself and represents unimaginable beauty, moulded perfectly for a breathtaking experience.

Samrat is a young and dynamic zoologist and a Wildlife expert, specifically working extensively in the forests of North East India for over 5 years. He comes with exhaustive experience of working in the lesser known wild places of North East India including Dibru-Saikhowa National Park, Joypore Rain Forest, Deepor Beel, Orang National Park, Amchang Wildlife Sanctuary, Gibbon Wild Life Sanctuary and much other difficult geography of eastern Himalayas and North East India including Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland and Manipur studying primate diversities and surveying avifauna conservation status. He is one of the youngest but most dynamic member of the team and is a Wildlife Photography Expert and Biodiversity Project Head for North East Indian expeditions of DCP.

Kane is an experienced photographer and has travelled extensively across Indian geography for several years. He has brilliant photography skills and technical knowledge in all genres of photography with a special interest in wildlife photography. He is known for his innovations and his capability of giving shape to imaginations. He has a great teaching acumen. Apart from his love for art, sculpture and music, he is a skilled trainer, trekker and a biodiversity expert. He is a Masterclass Mentor in the panel and Head of Creative Photography Division, Team DCP.

Arrive at Jorhat. Our representative will escort you to the hotel. Check in and refresh. After lunch, we will visit Kaziranga Orchid and Biodiversity Park. Here you will get opportunity to photograph many orchids. We will have cultural event organized for the evening, which also offers great photography opportunities. Overnight at Jorhat.
This morning, we will travel by road to Kohima. The travel time is approximately 5 hours. After reaching Kohima, checkin to your hotel and refresh. We plan to visit the War Cemetary, Church and the local market, which offer amazing photo opportunities. Overnight at Kohima.
Drive to Kisama, where annual Hornbill festival is held. Enjoy the dances, songs, games, etc. After the formal programme gets over, you can go to the tribal huts, interact with the tribes and learn the specific tribes more in detail. Overnight at Kohima.
Morning visit to the festival, be there till lunch time. Post lunch, we will drive to Khonoma village which is around 18 km from Kohima. This village is known for Nature, History and Culture. It has being recently declared as the first 'green village of the country'. Explore the village where you come across ceremonial gates, morung, fort, stone sitting circle, age group house, etc. We return by evening. Stay overnight at Kohima
Travel to Dimapur in the morning for your return flight.
On field learning from the experts is said to be one of the best methods of improving your skillsets. Our Wildlife Photography Expert will hand hold you at every possible step for a better understanding of perspectives, camera controls and how to make use of the best opportunities to get better images. Image processing workshop
To maximize and complete your photographic learning, join our evening session of informal discussions on digital image processing. Our Expert will work on few of his own images or a few of yours (which you have clicked during the day) and demonstrate various techniques of image processing to give a final shape to your artwork. The following will be discussed
