Overview

An experiential workshop is a unique concept, where you walk in, get guided, try your hands on 'do it yourself' practical exercises and then, walk away with some amazing images. Experiential workshops are straight to action workshops specially crafted to guarantee that you will go back with an experience that you will never forget and make images that you had ever made before.

Street photography is a very interesting genre of photography. Step outside the boundaries of the four walls and your comfort areas, with your camera; smell and experience the dirt on the roads, noise, stares and madness of rush on the streets. The world that you see is the background and the light available is all that you have and everything is beyond your control to set, yet it is a beautiful way to experience life, capturing the candid moments unfolding in front of you, capturing the live moments of life. Street photography does not mean only the people, it can be the atmosphere and environment, small businesses, food, houses or character of the place. Take images of the vendors, food stalls, people rushing home from work, kids playing, the modern life and the traditional life; literally every aspect of life .

About The Workshop

Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus formerly known as the famous Victoria Terminus or VT, is an iconic monument and a historic terminal train station of Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. It’s a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The terminus is a memoire of British architecture constructed by the British architect Frederick William Stevens with an inspiration from Italian Gothic style. The construction began in 1878, at south of the old Bori Bunder railway station and got completed in 1887, which was the year marking 50 years of Queen Victoria’s rule. India is a land of rich cultural heritage and our country depicts traditional and cultural significance from the ancient days. This country was ruled by Hindus, Muslims and Christians; during their rule, incredible structures were built depicting the artwork and culture of Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism, Sikhism, Islam and Christianity, which continue to exist as our legacy from the past. Heritage photography is an absorbing genre which transports the photographer to the ancient world, inspires the artist to capture the expressions and art of the magnificent structures that were built over years.

It’s always a great pleasure to attend this workshop. I have attended three of these and the magic of Mumbai’s heritage buildings, vibrant life, colourful characters of the roads and of course the able guidance by the mentor Pankaj Narshana ji makes it a heady combo. He really hand holds new photographers in undressing the various composition techniques and has the uncanny knack of identifying quirky photo ops on the street. A must attend workshop for amateur and advanced photographers alike.
