About The Tour

Maheshwar is situated in Khargone district of MP, on the north bank of the Narmada river. Mandu or Mandavgad is an ancient city which is situated in the current day Mandav area of Dhar district. Famous for the architectural jewels and historical landmarks, Mandu or Mandavgad is a popular tourist destination in Madhya Pradesh. A dream place for every historian, this picturesque city offers a memorable experience through its iconic monuments, palaces and forts. Both these places are famous for their ancient fortresses and other historical architecture, which offers abundant photography opportunities to a travel photographer.

Panel Expert - DCP Mumbai

Pankaj Narshana is a Mumbai based full time commercial photographer.  He was interested in drawing and painting from his childhood days, he says that photography is similar to painting and drawing as these require similar levels of imagination and an eye to bring out the beauty of this world. Pankaj is a self taught photographer and his main areas of interest in this field are Travel and Street photography. This talented photographer is associated with DCP Group as a Panel Expert - Team DCP Mumbai

Getting Ready

Things to carry:

Wide angle lens
Tele / zoom lens for candids and portraits
Carry fully charged batteries for your camera / flash.
Carry battery charger. Carry extra pack of camera batteries.
Carry backup memory cards / HDD storage drives, Laptop.
Carrying a Tripod for the sanctuary
Carry a big towel / cloth to protect your gear from dust.
Carry a big cloth / bandanna / scarf to protect you from dust.
It is advisable to carry basic first aid along with you.

Itinerary

Day 1

Participants are requested to reach Indore before 10:00 am. You will be picked up from Indore station. Our journey starts from here. We start from Indore to Maheshwar and reach the hotel by 1:00 am. After having lunch, rest for 2 hours and then, we head to the banks of Narmada by 4:30 pm. Our mentor will explain different framing and compositions to shoot. The banks of Narmada offers spectacular view of sunset. We reach back to hotel at around 8:30 pm to have dinner and gather for review of images and discussion.

Day 2

Wake up call would be at 5:00 am. After having tea/coffee by 5:30 am, we will start our morning tour to Ghats, have breakfast by 8:00 am and head to Ahilya fort. Reach back to hotel at around noon, take rest and start for Mandu, lunch would be served at a dhaba on the way to Mandu. We reach Mandu by 4:00 pm, take rest and start for evening shoot at Jahaj Mahal and nearby areas. We head back to hotel in Mandu by 9:00 to have dinner and hit bed.

Day 3

Wake up call would be at 5:00 am. After having tea/coffee by 5:30 am, we will start our morning tour to Rani Roopmati Mahal, Baj bahadur tomb and adjoining places. We will spend the entire day exploring the amazing beauty of heritage and culture of Mandu. We head back to hotel in Mandu by evening to have dinner and retire for the day.

Day 4

Have breakfast and you will be dropped back to Indore station. Our expedition comes to an end here.

Field Learnings

On-field learning from the experts is said to be one of the best methods of improving your skill-set. Our expert will hand hold you at every possible step for a better understanding of perspectives, camera controls and how to make use of the best opportunities to get better images. The training will focus on the following

How to approach people in the events
Different modes of shooting (Av / A, Tv/ S, M and P)
Exposure control in field under difficult light conditions
Mastering metering techniques (Spot, partial, center weighted, evaluative)
Framing and composition in the field
Ethics in Streets and Travel
