Bhandardara, a serene & unspoiled beauty situated in the middle of the Western Ghats in Nagar district, offers you an overwhelming experience. A trip to Bhandardara after first few pre-monsoon showers is an experience in itself. It’s a great relief to see how the weather changes in a matter of days. The majestic hills and valleys and different shades of green all around makes for a great treat to the eyes and body. In the first weeks of June every year these valleys witness one of nature’s greatest phenomenon, when thousands and thousands of fireflies gather and lit the valleys with their florescent green bulbs, since it’s the mating season for them. It’s a magical experience, when you see these thousands of tiny light bulbs glowing on trees and flying pass you. Especially if the sky is clear, this is an out of the world experience in the pitch darkness when you are also looking at the billions of stars and the milky way (It is visible to the naked eye in this time of the year). You can't help but wonder about the sheer expanse of the universe and the magic of mother nature. One must experience this phenomenon once in their life. It is also a great photography opportunity and a great way to spend your weekend in the lap of nature.
