Situated in the Konkan region along the West coast of peninsular India, Bhagwan Mahavir WLS is a 240 sq km of protected area within Western Ghats along the eastern border of Goa and forms a part of the one of the largest contiguous patches of protected areas in the central Western Ghats. The place is extremely popular among the bird photographers because of the ease of photographic opportunities that the camp site offers. A place of peace and tranquil, a home to innumerable bird species and wild animals of the Western Ghats. We will be exploring some of the birding hotspots in Goa: Western Ghat forests of Bondla and Bhagwan Mahavir Sanctuaries, mangrooves and marshes or river Zuari.

Species covered include: Malabar Trogon, Blue-eared Kingfisher, Malabar Grey Hornbill, Malabar Pied Hornbill, Malabar Parakeet, Flame-throated Bulbul, Malabar Barbet, Sri Lanka Frogmouth, Jerdon’s Nightjar, Crimson-backed Sunbird, Vernal hanging Parrot, Stork-billed Kingfisher, Nilgiri Flowerpecker, Crested Hawk Eagle, Velvet-fronted Nuthatch, Lesser Goldenbcak, Greater Goldenback, White-bellied Woodpecker, Asian Fairy Bluebird, Osprey, Black-capped Kingfisher, Collared Kingfisher, Greater Crested Tern, Lesser Whistling Teal, Slaty-breasted Rail, Little Heron, Black-crowned Night Heron, Glossy Ibis, Wood Sandpiper, Little ringed Plover, Purple Swamphen.

With a background in IT Consulting, Project & Program Management. Shivayogi spent over 22 years honing technical skills along with global exposure that laid the groundwork for a unique career transition.While working in the tech industry, he often found solace in the great outdoors, exploring local parks and trails with a camera in hand. This passion ignited a desire to capture the beauty of nature and share it with others, leading him to pursue photography more seriously.In 2017, Shivayogi boldly decided to embrace the life of a nature photographer while wearing a corporate hat. He specializes in both wildlife (especially bird photography) and landscapes using a keen eye for detail and composition to create stunning images that tell stories of the natural environment.His work has been featured in SmartPhotography, SaveUs, and many online platforms including Canon, and he is committed to promoting conservation efforts through his photography. [He believes that connecting people with nature through powerful imagery can inspire a greater appreciation for the environment.When not behind the lens, Shivayogi enjoys, teaching photography workshops, volunteering for conservation projects, and watching documentaries. He is based in Pune, where he continues to explore and document the beauty of the world around him.

We request to reach our camp site on your own. Please connect with our team for any assistance on the logistics. Freshen up with a welcome drink. Our expert would guide you through the entire plan for the Trip. After the room allotment process, freshen up and join the camp briefing over a cup of hot coffee. After a short discussion on the possible target species of the region and a few tips and tricks on bird photography, enjoy a delicious lunch at the camp site. You must keep your camera ready with you anytime for possible sightings within the campsite. Take some rest and join the evening birding at Tambdi Surla in Bhagwan Mahavir WLS..
The day begins early at 6.15 am with a hot cup of tea and coffee. The excitement starts with the early morning call of the Malabar Grey Hornbills. We will be doing the morning birding at Bondla Wildlife Sanctuary today. Come back to the camp site, have a lip smacking goan cuisine over a buffet lunch. Take some rest and join for the evening birding in Bhagwan Mahavir Wildlife Sanctuary. In one of the days we will also explore Tambi Surla again based on sighting reports.
The day begins early at 6.15 am with a hot cup of tea and coffee. We will checkoput in the morning and will go to the river Zuari for a boat ride today for kingfishers, terns and a variety of waders. Post the river cruise, we come to an end of our expedition and depart.
On field learning from the experts is said to be one of the best methods of improving your skillsets. Our expert will hand hold you at every possible step for a better understanding of perspectives, camera controls and how to make use of the best opportunities to get better images.
